Yesterday, I finished sanding and buffing one of the guitars I've been working on. I buffed through the finish in one tiny spot. Its on the top of my binding. It doesn't actually run out on to the top, it's just the thickness of the binding and about 3/4" long. It's not very noticeable but it does kind of look like a dull spot. Do any of you know of some trick that would fix this without having to brush on lacquer and sand and buff? That takes forever. The finish is nitro lacquer. |

Colby, Try french polishing the area. This works well. I have also used liquid silicone on tiny areas and it also hides well. |

I almost forgot another trick, clear finger nail polish is quick dry lacquer. It also works. |

Liquid silicone!!! I thought that was taboo around a guitar finish? |

Robbie, thanks for the info. Could you please tell me a little more about how you would go about fixing a spot like this. I've never french polished a guitar before. I have some of the bulls eye seal coat, they say it's pretty good for french polishing. Would you polish a pretty good size area or just the tiny spot? Would you use oil and alcohol on the pad? |
